The Waste of Size

Alright Ladies, This post is for you.

To be honest, I’m disgusted by the way our world treats you. It’s sad to say, but it’s almost as if our world purposely ignores the way we treat women. And Christian or not, the topic of weight and waist floats across the board of conversations. Not to mention how many women have struggled with weight issues in their past. The heartless conversations definitely don’t help.

The Church is supposed to be a place of freedom, acceptance and purity. But how many times have you found your insecurity level rise while in the presence of Christian men or women? Our conversation is supposed to encourage, not deter.

Ephesians 4:29 – Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.

1 Samuel 16:7 - “For the LORD sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the LORD looks on the heart.”

If yes, why is that?

Now don’t get me wrong. I am not saying all Christian men/women are like this. But what I am saying is that it’s wrong and not of God. You are beautiful in the eyes or God, and until someone can look at you through His eyes, their sight is of the world and not of purity.

Continue to seek God, and do not let the opinion of men or women crush your foundation in Christ. Regardless if you weigh 50 lbs, 100 lbs, or 300 lbs. You have been made in HIS image, and don’t you ever forget that.

Ladies, your beauty is not defined by your waist size or weight, but by your heart and passion for Jesus Christ. And if anyone says differently, I wouldn’t waste your time in their presence, because they’re only going to bring you down.

A real man knows waist size is a waste size. It’s the heart for Him that counts.

Genesis 1:27 - So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.

This is just what I needed to see today. I’m getting ready to go off to school and am starting to feel like I need to lose some weight in order to be perceived as beautiful. This post helps me in shifting my perspective back to where it needs to be. Thanks!

Hey Ashley, I love you sister! I can’t believe people have called you those things. All I know is that you are a woman of God, and that is the ONLY title you need to hold on to. Love you sister and I am always here for you!

Just what I needed to hear.

Ecclesiastes 3:11 – “He has made everything beautiful in it’s time. Also, he has put eternity into every man’s heart….”.

I am fearfully and wonderfully made, in HIS image, to fulfill HIS purpose. (:

Awesome post Jarrid! This is one more reason I’m glad to have you and Colleen as mentors from afar in my daughters lives.
I’ll be sharing this with both Well Watered Woman and Well Watered Woman Teens.

    Blessings,

If only more guys would read this and think like this(: Thank you Jarrid for showing me how a real man of God should act. I’ve seen so many guys act different ways and the world is making it hard to see how God wants guys to act and how a guy should treat me. Thank you! God bless(:

I’ve got a worship band on in the background right now, and I flicked over to YouTube briefly to look at the image in the video and found myself looking at the woman singing, and thinking “…maybe I’d be a better leader if I looked like that.”

    Then I read this.
And I wish I truly believed it.

    Thanks for writing this.

It counts for so much when God-loving men communicate to women that it’s not their size that makes them valuable. It’s difficult to keep body image in perspective when we are surrounded by a culture that dictates an unrealistic ideal of beauty.

    Thanks again. I felt encouraged.
