I know sometimes we can get caught up in the motions of life, but I want to encourage all of us to continue our pursuit towards Christ.
Something my pastor said in last week really put this into perspective for me. He said,”It’s sad how many of us stop the pursuit once we’ve obtained what we want.”
He was referring to personal relationships and marriage, but I’ve realized how we sometimes do the same thing when it comes to our relationship with God. People come to find Jesus, but fail to continue the pursuit once they “have what they want.” We act like once we’ve found Him, we don’t need to seek Him anymore. Now, we don’t necessarily say that but we sure do act it.
God has called us to continually seek his face (Psalm 105:4). And although “continually” seems like a bit much, It’s what He’s called us to. We should THIRST after time with our FATHER. There is nothing more fulfilling.
Believe me, I know sometimes things get crazy and hectic, but in reality: We give time to the things we care about.
Jesus didn’t die so we could only spend 5-10 minutes with him a day.
Not spending time with God cannot be excused by lack of time or ambition. And when we do use those excuses, I believe satan lies at the fabric of them. Why? because Satan doesn’t want us spending ANY time with God. He shutters at the thought of another child being added into God’s family.
Let’s continue building each other up for the sake of The Gospel (1 Thessalonians 5:11), and pursue our call to righteousness (2 Timothy 2:22).
We’re all in this together. We have a mission. We are The Church.

As a man newly centered in christ your post really hit home for me. My pursuit began on 3/15/12. Already my life has begun to change and become more fullfilled than the one I have lived before. To think that I would pull away from the God who provides all this after getting what I want makes me sad. How can we expect to get the results of a certain action if we start to pull away and stop taking the action. How typical and self centertered we are “Expecting. Something for nothing”
Hey Max, this is so great to hear. I am praying for you man!
Thank you for sharing this, Jarrid. It really spoke to me and reminded me to keep moving on. Glorifying God through our actions, words, and quiet time is so important. For me, pursuing our Creator has been so fulfilling and life altering. :)
Thank you Amanda. I am so glad it spoke to you. Keep pursuing God, and don’t let anyone blockade your way towards Him.
Hi Jarrid, wow! okay so that 5-10 minute a day statement sent me to my knees, because I have all kinds of excuses about why I don’t have much more time than that to spend w/God every day. Conviction is good because it leads to confession, which always leads to deeper relationship. Thanks… I get it. No more excuses. Kingdom ~~~>winning, satan ~~~>losing.
Wow, that’s incredible. I am praying for your relationship with God, and I hope we can all continually seek His face!
Sigh, it really takes someone to describe your filth in order to see how dirty your actions really are. I held this post up as a mirror to my life and I’m literally ashamed. I’m not spending as much time with God as I ought to and I use the excuse of ‘studying for my finals’ when I’m perfectly able to go on any social network when I want to. Not happy with this, especially when I look back on intimate moments God and I shared alone.
Prayers needed.
